Trail Review: Beaver Lake Trail

Beaver Lake Trail was the first trail I explored in Pocahontas State Park. I selected it because I love a loop trail, it didn’t seem strenuous, and it was a good distance. This was the day I was going to take my new dog hiking. I held my breath that this 2.5 year old Goldendoodle would be a hiker.

What a fantastic inaugural hike with my new +1. You start by walking down a rather steep hill to get to the lake.  Immediately you are welcomed by a beautiful overlook.

The trail will take you just off of the lake. You have a few other overlooks around the lake that provide great views and places to rest.

As you arrive at the last turn, you are greeted by a beautiful dammed fall.

On your way back to the trailhead, be sure to check out the pollinator hotel. I would have missed it if Tootsie, my new dog, didn’t want to explore every inch of the trail.
